At some point in our lives we all need a professional to assist with our personal legal affairs. It’s not always something that we find easy to get round to and sometimes it involves considering issues that, frankly, we’d rather avoid.
It may be a long-term strategy to deal with inheritance tax or just a simple Will after buying your first home; a member of the family may need assistance with their affairs or you might be an executor of a Will and need advice in steering the right course through the administration of the estate.
Whatever the assistance that you need our friendly and dedicated team will ensure that you and your family are best placed for the present and for the future.
Over many years we have built up particular expertise in the following areas:
- Personal inheritance tax planning
- Probate and administration of estates
- Powers of attorney
- Trusts of land and other assets
- Making wills
- Disputed wills and estates
Probate Services
The cost of an estate administration varies depending on the complexity of the estate and the amount of work involved.
We offer a fixed fee for administering more straightforward estates which ranges from £4000 - £12,000 + VAT depending upon the number of different financial assets and beneficiaries involved and whether inheritance tax is payable in respect of the estate.
For more complex estates, or where it is unclear at the outset how much work might be involved, we base our charges on the amount of time we spend on a matter. Usually, the charges amount to around 1% to 3% of the gross value of an estate.
Where we act as professional Executors we charge a value element of 0.75% of the value of the main residence in an estate and 1.5% on the balance of the gross value of the estate, in addition to the charges incurred based on the amount of time we spend on the matter.
