Will writing during coronavirus

Can I still write a new Will or sort out Powers of Attorney during the current lockdown?  Should I wait until the lockdown is eased?

The answer is yes, you can and no, you should not put off making a new Will or putting Powers of Attorney in place.  Over the past few months we have witnessed a spike in new enquiries and have assisted many people to get their affairs in order.  Although our methods of working have changed, we are still here to assist you and we are very much still open and working for you.

How do I give instructions when the office is closed to clients?

When you phone the office, our friendly receptionist, will put you through to one of us for an initial chat.   Although our offices are closed to clients, a core number of staff are manning the fort and ensuring that the office continues to run smoothly, deal with all initial enquiries and our mail.  The majority of other staff are working remotely but as we all have laptops and mobile phones we can work anywhere.  During our initial chat we can discuss what it is that you are looking for, what is involved and the costs and likely timescales.  If you wish to progress then we will ordinarily then set up a video call with you to take your instructions in full.

From there on its normal service (we can communicate with you by phone, email or letter) until you need to get your new documents signed.

I am classed as vulnerable so how do I get my Will signed?

Getting your documents signed and witnessed correctly is vital so we will send you detailed instructions about what you need to do, who needs to be involved and in what order to do things.  The instructions take into account those who are self-isolating or in quarantine.  If you’re still unsure, you can give us a call and we will talk you through it.  If you’re putting in place Powers of Attorney, we can still be your certificate provider.

If you or a member of family have been worrying about your affairs or putting things on hold, don’t; we are here to assist.
